County Prosecutor

  • Prosecution of all misdemeanor offenses (DUI, traffic violations, assault, and theft of less than $500) occurring in Campbell County that carry a punishment of less than a year in jail 
  • Search warrant preparation and preliminary hearings for felony cases
  • Juvenile offenses and juvenile dependency, neglect, abuse, and emergency custody orders
  • Extradition of criminals from other jurisdictions
  • Assist with disability and guardianship cases and involuntary mental health commitments

Legal advisor to the Fiscal Court

  • Attend all fiscal court meetings and give legal advice to the fiscal court and other county offices
  • Institute or defend all civil actions in which the county government has an interest
  • Advise regarding and investigate election issues, file suits for autopsies, assist in coroner inquests, research entertainment permit requests, and assist the Transportation Cabinet when requested
  • Contract with the Revenue Cabinet to try to collect delinquent property taxes

Child Support Collector

  • Handle about 4,800 cases a year, including about 2,600 hearings annually
  • Research paternity complaints and collect DNA samples
  • Collect Child Support payments; our office collected $9.32 million in 2011
